Time to hit that ‘Publish’ button

It’s time to click publish! After months of planning and designing, it’s finally time to click that ‘publish’ button and launch Acacia and Pine’s website!

And what a day for it! It’s Dydd Dewi Sant! St. David’s Day, the patron Saint of Wales!

As a small business owner, the excitement and nervousness of going live can be overwhelming. However, it’s important to remind myself that no website is ever perfect on its first launch, and that’s okay! I am really proud of Acacia and Pine and our magical journals inspired by the rich myths and legends of Wales.

Designed to help you capture your thoughts and dreams, I can’t wait for you to see them and see what my lovely customers already say about them. While we’ve done everything we can to ensure that that the website is functioning smoothly, we know that there may be hiccups along the way. That’s why I’m asking for your help!

As our beta testers, I would love to hear your feedback on our website. Is there something that’s not working as it should? Is there a feature that you think I should add? Let me know! I want to create the best possible experience for you and your input is invaluable. As a thank you for your help, I am offering a free crystal journal tie to anyone who provides a piece of feedback that results in an improvement.

These beautiful journal ties are not available for sale yet, so you would be one of the first to have one! I want you to know how much I appreciate your time and effort in helping to make this website the best it can be.

So, it’s time to click that ‘publish’ button and let the world know about Acacia and Pine’s magical Welsh journals!

Does my journal have to be pretty?

A bullet journal open to a two-page spread of text and images. There is a bright pink fountain pen laid across the pages.

I get asked this question a lot.

You can journal however you want. There are no rules. It does not have to be pretty. You can have a structure if you prefer, or you can let it flow naturally. You can write about your day and your thoughts, or you can write poetry and prose.

The only thing that matters is that you actually write; the way in which you do so is up to you!

If you’d like to start a journal, but don’t know where to begin, I recommend going here for a post on how to get started with journalling in 5 easy steps. In it, I’ll walk you through each step of the process so that even if it’s been years since you last wrote anything down, by the end of this guide, you’ll have an easy-to-follow plan on how to start journaling again!

5 quick steps to gratitude journalling

An open bullet journal, decorated with washi tape, a drawing of a sunflower and the words 'Litha Blessings' written in a decorative typeface. The journal is on some grass, with pens either side and a sunflower bloom above.

1. Pick up your favourite journal and writing materials. Set some dedicated time aside and make it an event. Put on your favourite music, brew a warming cup of tea or pick your most comfortable spot.

2. Write down what you’re grateful for today, even if it’s something small like your coffee being just the right temperature or seeing a bird outside your window.

3. Turn off your phone and other distractions, and just focus on writing for five minutes at a time until you’re finished with one full page of gratitude. You can set an alarm if you need to!

4. When you’re done with that first page, read through it and see what positive things come to mind—then write them down! You’ll be surprised by how much more gratitude comes up when you really focus on it, and it’s especially helpful if your mind starts drifting into negative territory (which happens to all of us sometimes).

5. If this is overwhelming for some reason, start out small: try writing down three things each day that make you happy or grateful for someone else instead of focusing solely on yourself!

If you’re not a journaller, the idea of starting one can seem daunting—but it doesn’t have to be. Here are 5 steps to get you started:

1. Find a place where you feel relaxed and safe: A quiet spot in nature or at home are great options for many people. If those don’t work for you, try somewhere else!

2. Start writing! It doesn’t matter if it’s bad at first; just get those thoughts out on paper (or on screen). Write about anything that comes up for you today—even if it’s just “Today was terrible!” or “My cat is cute.” Just keep going until all of your thoughts are out there somewhere in the world where they won’t be able to bother you anymore!

3. Don’t worry about sounding smart or trying too hard to impress anyone with how well-written your journal entries are. Just write about what makes YOU happy: Your favourite colour? Your favourite food? Your favourite song? It doesn’t matter what it is—just write down everything that makes YOU feel good!

4. Choose a frequency: Once a week? Once a day? Once every hour? Whatever works best for you is perfect!

5. Start exploring with your favourite markers, stickers or washi tapes if you want to add a pop of colour, if not, that is perfectly fine too! Remember to take the time to flip through your journal once in a while, the satisfaction is second to none.

It’s time to start journalling!
