If you’re not a journaller, the idea of starting one can seem daunting—but it doesn’t have to be. Here are 5 steps to get you started:

1. Find a place where you feel relaxed and safe: A quiet spot in nature or at home are great options for many people. If those don’t work for you, try somewhere else!

2. Start writing! It doesn’t matter if it’s bad at first; just get those thoughts out on paper (or on screen). Write about anything that comes up for you today—even if it’s just “Today was terrible!” or “My cat is cute.” Just keep going until all of your thoughts are out there somewhere in the world where they won’t be able to bother you anymore!

3. Don’t worry about sounding smart or trying too hard to impress anyone with how well-written your journal entries are. Just write about what makes YOU happy: Your favourite colour? Your favourite food? Your favourite song? It doesn’t matter what it is—just write down everything that makes YOU feel good!

4. Choose a frequency: Once a week? Once a day? Once every hour? Whatever works best for you is perfect!

5. Start exploring with your favourite markers, stickers or washi tapes if you want to add a pop of colour, if not, that is perfectly fine too! Remember to take the time to flip through your journal once in a while, the satisfaction is second to none.

It’s time to start journalling!
